Romeo and Juliet:Love vs. Lust

Romeo and Juliet:typical first encounter?

In the movie, and the play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, we can argue whether Romeo and Juliet really loves each other or they just seek intimate contact with each other. Well we can tell from their first encounter that Juliet genuinely falls in love with Romeo, but does a teenage boy like Romeo loves Juliet back with genuine affection? First of all, we can all say that boys have different views about love compared to women (you know what I mean). Boys think that when they fall in love with someone, sex is included to intimacy with that person. Every time we see and read Romeo meeting Juliet both in the play and the movie, he always has to kiss her, not only kissing as in kiss on the cheeks but kissing her like there is no tomorrow. Seeing this, we can wonder "does Romeo really loves Juliet or does he just lust over Juliet?" During their first encounter, Romeo compared his lips to the lips of a pilgrim who wants to be saved by kissing the lips of a saint, who is Juliet. This way of flirting with a person of the opposite sex is kind of weird, thinking that Romeo is like about sixteen and Juliet is thirteen. Reading all that, I still believe that Romeo and Juliet's love towards each other is genuine because, as the book says they are "Star-Crossed lovers" and against all odds, they got married and died together, although I believe that death should not have been the final solution to their forbidden love. Lust towards each other is a part of their genuine love towards each other, and even against their families, authorities or even destiny they would still strive to love each other forever because their love is brought up by fate, even though scientifically I do not believe in faith.

  1. 1) Watch your spelling and grammar (there are quite a few errors)
    2) Be careful making braod generalizations! You are not able to speak for all men!
    3) this is good however the assignment asked for two toppics and two theme statements to expore and you have only done one.

    Good start!
