Kind of weird how William Shakespeare defined Romeo and Juliet's love. It Romeo and Juliet exist today, their parents might chase them with a beating stick when they find out that they have been seeing each other at their age. However, Romeo and Juliet's love is fictional, although the story of their forbidden love has been part of the cannons of English literature.
The idea of love and marriage is one complicated thing to tackle with young people, especially with the media interfering with the ethical ideas of love and marriage. Love is an intense feeling of deep affection. It involves a thorough process of thinking and decision making. Marriage then comes to play. Marriage is a covenant bond between two lovers. Marriage, well to be technical, you need to be 18 or older to be married in today's society. Imagine how weird it's going to be if we bring in Romeo and Juliet into today's society. It's going to be weird, and Romeo might even get arrested for being in a romantic relationship with a 13 year old girl.
In today's homes, parents motivate their children to finish school first before even thinking about love and marriage. Well, hope that really works seeing how teenagers these days flirt and date each other. They might be even more intimate than some adults out there. We can't really blame the parents with that. The idea of the so called 'puppy love' comes from stories created by the media and, well, stories like Romeo and Juliet. Young people get their hopes so high that they try everything to be intimate with someone.
Things were different back then. Back in the medieval times, people marry each other at a very young age. That is probably where the idea of age doesn't matter with love came from. One important thing young people these days should remember is, the person they should love needs to be special. That person needs to be that someone you can love unconditionally without any remorse later on. Well, that idealism should be applied by people of proper age only. Nobody really knows the true definition of love. All we know is that you feel love coming from someone and you also feel the love you give the someone.
Another great post Julius! Keep up the good work! I especially love how you ended this one!
